About Beautiful Black Girl:

 

This magazine became my brain child, quite a few years ago. I had the vision late one night, when I read a story about a young (black) woman, who had commited suicide, because of the harsh opinions of others.

 

They ridiculed her for her dark skin, citing the fact that she was not as beautiful as other girls, because of it. That troubled me, mainly because of my own experiences. There was a time that I was not happy with myself, because people had attached a negative stigma to dark skin. I wanted to be lighter, so that I would be beautiful.

 

As troubling as all of that was, what hit hardest was that I could relate to this girl...and it could have been me. That is where this magaizne comes in. It is my prayer that it will reach our beautiful black girls, one click at a time. You are powerful, queen...wear your crown with pride!
